Santa Central Sale is the first in history of the Santa Gertrudis breed where a multi-vendor sale will showcase bulls in the sale catalogue prepared under this same regime.
From induction date, all bull are administered with the same clinical and veterinary inoculations. Test scans and performance data along with semen tests and in-herd weight gains and comparisons will be available on sale day giving buyers for the first time true comparisons at a multi vendor event. This same slow feeding regime for all bulls will benefit buyers according to the sale instigators and will aid and enhance the longevity and fertility of the bulls destined for sale.
The entire vendor list, with the exception of one, will support the fixture with their entire yearly draft of bulls at this one location. (Dunlop stud has reserved the right to support another local sale. Studs supporting the sale this year are Bottletree, Dunlop, Fishington, Glenn Oaks, Glenview, Gralyn, Hardigreen Park, Hillside, Jarrah Park, Kelly, Soleo-Melance, SuJo, Tookey Creek, Warenda and Wave Hill.
Backing their claims of a catalogue filled with a wide range of breed genetics, the vendors have assembled an offering of 140 classified and purebredd bulls and will be accompanied by 3 females. These females will be either offered preg tested in calf or with a calf at foot. Striking similarities exist between many on the vendor list with the majority owning and operating commercial cattle and bullock breeding enterprises.
The sale will be held at the new state-of-the-art steel sale/selling complex at “Headingly”, Clifton a property purchased by the Headingly Sale Complex, Clifton, is located five kilometres off the Toowoomba – Warwick highway. Several exciting options are afforded buyers at the forthcoming sale.
The sale draft is open of inspection on our Open Day, Thursday 2nd September 2010, where all bulls will be on display to the public. Enquiries are welcome all other times.
The operation and its clientele have are dedicated to promoting the Santa Gerturdis breed and each year mount a strong show team for the Brisbane Exhibition.
The unparallelled success that the vendors have enjoyed throughout Australia over recent years makes the sale and it’s product a feature on the forthcoming stud seed stock sale circuit. Many of the top bulls destined for sale within the Santa Gertrudis breed will go under the hammer at Santa Central sale. Last year the Glenn Oaks prefix rocketed to prominence when their 26-month-old entry, Farmhand sold for a breed seasonal record of $68,000 to the Hardigreen Park Stud, Quirindi, NSW. The fitting operation and its’ clients scored a rare feat in the same year topping five multi vendor sales, Heartland, Springsure, Northern Breeders Sale (Tamworth), Ag Show and Toogoolawah notching up sales of $68,000; $9000; $40,000; $35,000 and $22,250 respectively. They prepared 25 show bulls to average $14,101 at auction and 134 bulls in total for a healthy $6317 average. In the show ring the operation had similar success taking seven championships at the Sydney Royal with 25 head under its mantle. At the breed feature show in Goondiwindi last year the fitting service and its’ clients assembled a team of 79 head taking seven championship ribbons while the RNA netted the operation six champions from a team of 80 head.
