Hillside Sire Profiles

Waco Odessey (P)

Waco Odessey (P) was purchased in 2003 in partnership with the Watasanta Stud for $27,000. We were impressed with the large frame-size, sleek coat type, breed character and muscle definition displayed by this bull, as well as his outstanding temperament. Odessey sons have sold to $20,000 with Hillside Handyman. Odessey was onsold in 2009 to the Evans Family of Cartyne for stud duties so this is the last year in which we shall offer Odessey sons for sale.

Waco Peru

Waco Peru was purchased in 2005 for $19,000. A multiple bred bull, this did not faze us when faced with the attributes he offered. Peru is a large framed and structurally correct bull, with a very fine skin and coat type. Peru possesses the level of Bos Indicus content that we felt some of our females were previously lacking.  Peru is a bull that we used extensively in his first year without his condiditon being unduly affected.  In testament to his fertility, we have very good lines of Peru females that are developing into strong young breeders with well structured, supple udders and teats.  this years draft of bull sired by Peru were very interesting to observe as they matured to be long, tropical types with excellent doing ability over the dry autumn before sale preparation began.

Waco Trust

Waco Trust (by Waco Nightcap) was purchased at the 2007 Yarrawonga-Waco sale for his length, hind-quarter and trim sheath. In addition to these terrific attributes his dam also boasted a 100% classification rate for 6 consecutive calves. Joined to a variety of females, his first calves are now being offered for sale and display good depth, muscle expression and structural correctness of their sire. We are happy with this sire and have already retained  one byll for our own in-herd use.

Strathmore U544

U544 was bought at the 2001 Strathmore sale by the Wilkinson Family at Merriwa for $20,000 and was used at Hillside as part of a sire share arrangement.  A tall, deep sided, dark and stylish bull, he complimented the tropical attributes of the calves by Waco Peru and helped to reinforce some more poll genetics within the herd.  He threw a very appealing stamp onto the calves which can be seen on the bulls presented in this year's sale draft.
