Fishington

On August 1969 the Fishington Santa Gertrudis Stud (number 421) was founded to produce bulls for the commercial Fishington herd.

Fishington stud is situated on the eastern side of the glorious New England area of New South Wales, lying 60 kilometres east of Armidale near Wollomombi.  In 2004 the stud cow operation was transferred to Wanderriby under Robertson Grazing with Roy Robertson as principal.

Our breeding objective is to produce functionally efficient cattle to suit the commercial cattle producer.  We strive for structurally correct animals that are moderate framed, fertile, well muscled and easy doing.  We are currently introducing more poll genetics into our herd to meet the demand from the commercial cattle producers.

Breedplan EBV's are used in assisting to select replacement sires and in the joining program.  The whole herd has been recorded for Breedplan since 1993.

The stud herd currently has about 120 cows plus heifer replacements.  Current sires include Pinaroo Popeye (in top 5% for EMA), Kelly Wallah Yamato a trait leader for 200 & 600 growth and in top 2% for EMA and Rosevale Ned Y68 (P) a trait leader for 400 growth and scrotal size and in top 5% for EMA and all growth traits.

We have been showing bulls and preparing sale bulls through the Glenn Oaks Fitting Service since 1990.
