Moreton and Frances Rolfe

Moreton Rolfe registered Hardigreen Park in February 1972.  Our 40 year anniversary is fast approaching but our quest to breed top cattle is still increasing.  The Stud has been based at Wallabadah, which is its centre, since 1979,  "Santa Vale"at Woolomin, (some 60kms from Wallabadah), gave the necessary area to increase the stud's herd.  Under the management of Colin Patterson some 200 classified females are joined in single sire herds each year to a very strong line of bulls, whose progeny have received ready acceptance in the show and sale rings.  These bulls are used over a highly fertile line of females built up since our inception.

Hardigreen Park followed its strong 2008 sale result with another good sale in 2009.  The fourteen 'S' bulls sold for an average of $12,710.  The first season sire, Wave Hill Z146 (P), led the way with an average of $22,250 for his four sons to top of $37,500 for Lawyer, who sold to the Hatton family's Diamond H stud.  At the 2009 Brisbane Royal, this bull had won the large 22-24 month bull class.  Other sons were Legion (P), who stood third in the 22-24 month bull class and sold to repeat buyer Forest Park for $19,000; Lotto (P), who sold to another repeat buyer Eddie Masterson, for $16,500 and Leroy (P), who went to Robert and Juile Vise, "Kuloomba", Victoria for $16,000.  Z146 was purchased at the 2006 Santa Central Sale and will be represented this year by three sons.

Other repeat buyers, who gave us great support, were Robert and Ben Adams, Dangarfield Stud purchasing Legend by Warenda Rolex for $16,000 and Ian Walker, Strathmore Stud, who took home Lord, another Rolex son, for $12,000.  Rolex was the sire of Hardigreen Park Longines, the Junior and Grand Champion Santa Bull and Best Santa Exhibit at the 2009 Sydney Royal .  Yarrawonga bought the Dolicus son, Lager for $20,000 and the Barlow family, "Yarrabee", got a poll son of Farmhand for $11,000.

Thank you to all buyers, underbidders and supporters.

Hardigreen Park also bought the top priced bull of the Santa Central sales so far, Gralyn Defender D22 (P) for $46,000.  This 25 month bull weighed 958 kgs with a daily weight gain of 1.23 kgs, an EMA of 124 and a scrotum of 43cm.  The stud also bought Wave Hill Cowboy C836 (P) for $45,000, a record for an unled Santa bull.  He weighed in at 826 kgs with an EMA of 126 and a scrotum of 41 cms.  As October calf he has grown out well.  Both these bulls had good pregancy percentages in difficult seasonal conditions last spring.  These sires will further increase our genetic spread.

The 2010 sale team is shaping up well with the sires, which were well accepted at the last two sales, together with the first season sire, Barbados, all represented.  Barbados will have 3 sons; the ever reliable Farmhand 4 sons, including the clean poll Manager, who stood 5th in the 18-20 month class at the Sydney Royal;  Rolex offering 5 sons and Wave Hill Z146 (P) offering 3 including an admired bull Maximus (P) D54; Dolicus 2 sons and Morocco one excellent polled son.
